Hi there! My name is Vinicius S. Baldaia (1995) and I'm a composer natural of São Paulo, Brazil. Bachelor of Music Composition from the Institute of Arts of São Paulo State University (UNESP), I've had classes on Composition with Alexandre Lunsqui and Electroacoustic Composition with Flo Menezes at Studio PANaroma of Electroacoustic Music. Currently in the PhD program at the same University, I'm also the Sound Technician in Studio PANaroma. My academic interests comprise Musical Analysis, Harmony, Information Theory, and the study of Composition.
I was awarded in the Biennial of Contemporary Brazilian Music in the last two consecutive editions (2021 and 2023) and was a finalist in both “Mayflower Art Center 2022 ‘In Bloom’ international call for scores” and the Brazilian “Gramado in Concert 2024” composition contests with works for solo instrument, ensemble, mixed-media, and orchestra. I have been selected in the 2021 South-American call for scores of Festival Escuta Aqui!, as well. I've also premiered electroacoustic works in the International Biennial for Electroacoustic Music of São Paulo (BIMESP) in 2020, 2022, and 2024 editions, and had commissioned the acousmatic work Antopomêmor by Studio PANaroma for Electroacoustic Music in 2021. In 2022, my acousmatic work Déjà vu was performed in Nürnberg, Germany, at the Hochschule Für Musik’s celebration of 100 years of the Brazilian “Semana de Arte Moderna de 1922”. In 2023, both Déjà vu and my instrumental work Idílico Eclipsado were selected to participate in “Festival Atemporánea” held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The score of my mixed-media composition O Engodo do Medo is currently being edited by Sur - editores de música contemporánea, based in Mexico. My works have been played in Brazil, Argentina, México, Portugal, Germany, and the US so far.
I also enjoy writing poems in my free time, visiting parks, and being in touch with Nature and other forms of Art.
